Today, as our nation prays together, I’m thinking about Jesus’ prayers.
After Jesus saw Judas leave to go betray him and before he headed out to be our blood sacrifice, Jesus prayed — for us!
“Protect them by the power of the Name You gave me, Jesus said, “that they may be one, as We are One.
“Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.”
I’ve had such a lovely time this year praying along with Jesus, and watching him answer His own prayers. I invite you to join me in my prayers for The Village.
Prayers for The Village 2020 to 2021
Protect us by the power of the name of Jesus, that we may be one, as God and Jesus are one.
Pour out your love into our hearts by your Holy Spirit, sincere love in action and in truth. And they will know we are Christians by our love. Deliver us from the judgmentalness that often comes with anxiety. Instead help us serve each other in humility, thinking of the other person as more important than ourselves, as you did, Jesus. Grant us to love you by looking for ways to lay our lives down for one another. Give us willingness to work hard at maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. You died for that.
Sanctify us by Your Word, Jesus, please move in us to read and meditate on your word day and night, to hide it in our hearts, and minister it to one another faithfully and gently. Help us not to just hear the word but to do it, too. Help our leaders, and the rest of us walk by your Spirit, keeping ourselves from being polluted by the world, guarding our eyes, ears, minds, hearts, lips.
Guide and hear our prayers and fasting, and help us be faithful to pray for the city and the country and our neighbors and our leaders, each other, our families, ourselves, and to make and faithfully pray our twenty prayers with great faith! Hear our prayers, for they are your prayers!
By the power of the name of Jesus, Amen!
