Tonight (Wednesday, July 15th) at 8:30 I’m going to join Eric, Sue, and Michael for a time of worship at the church. You can find a link on the front page of the website. I grew up around midweek services. We had a Friday service when I was in elementary and middle school. I would play with my friends outside while my parents were in the service. When I was pastoring in Texas, our church had 3 midweek services! It’s something I haven’t really missed since coming to the Village (mostly because of my experience in Texas).
But since we had to stop meeting in person because of COVID-19, we’ve been meeting on Wednesdays to spend some time in worship. This time has been so special. In the midst of turmoil, stress, and anxiety we need to cling more tightly to Jesus – more tightly to our call to praise God and seek Him. In our isolation we should find more ways to come together in seeking God. The prayer and fasting times on Saturdays have been hopeful in this way, as well as the prayer time on Wednesday morning. For me, the times of music are special though. So much of the way I process my relationship with God is through music and the time on Wednesdays to sing and play music have been rich. We changed the time from 2:30 to 8:30 in the hopes that more people would be able to jump in and I invite you to join. Pray with us, sing with us, listen to the teaching after and seek God with us.
