Here is the thing I read in church this week.
Where is the lamb with curls and silk hair,
where is the lamb so soft and white?
She has turned into panther, deadly and sleek,
she has dyed her coat to blend with the night.
Where is the lamb who loved the spring grass,
where is the lamb that gamboled and played?
She runs with the wolves, hidden and furtive,
she has turned to the silent way.
Where is the lamb who slept with the Shepherd,
where is the one kept safe in his arms?
She has taken the soldier's mantle and bow,
she is awake at the gate to guard from harm.
Who will look for the little lamb,
who will work for her return?
Who misses her curls and her playful ways
and longs for her rebirth? |
