(edit) The Village Cancer Relief Fund;
Images from 3/06, L.A., Tecate, and back home again
$48 hotel with a lot more personality than actual guests. The color scheme reminded me of ice cream treats sold out of a truck.
Awwww, ain't she cute.
Bag ladies?
Flower Power, baby. Kelly wanted us to bring along her truck stop souvenir. And we had to walk our luggage a few blocks to avoid paying Mexican insurance. Anyway, this bag got checked on the way back into the States--(and that was the trip back w/out the flower)--I don't know why the agent didn't think I looked like the normal tourist...
It was still cold in Tecate at night. And the hotel lacked insulation (although Emily poked my sweatshirt around the doorway) as well as adequate bedcoverings (although we had my comforter from home, Kelly's sleeping bag plus two faded Loony Tunes blankets I'd managed to borrow using my mangled Spanish). So we fell asleep to the light of our "campfire."
She's itchin' to drive (as soon as she can reach the pedals).
Mr. Jensted was Emily's favorite high school teacher in Suriname. He has been working with high school students at a mission school in Tecate for several years now.
The teacher's lounge at the mission school is WAAAAAY nicer than mine at Cross Middle, but as a teacher at the school pointed out, also nicer than the actual classrooms. Oh, well...
Dinnertime. My friend's daughter, in a food court in a suburb of Los Angeles where English is a second language. Kelly wanted a photo of the "cross," the character on the left, which actually refers to a Taiwanese shopping district.
self-discovery in the mirror over the portable cash machine at the 4th Avenue Street Fair (what's the deal with the mirror, anyway?)...hmm, Magpie's sounds good right now...
...for the price of a tall Americano a day, you could sponsor this Village urchin...
In her left hand, Kelly holds a newly purchased bag of lavender slime, which provided hours of enjoyment before inevitably starting to leak.
Is the tank holding up the tree, or the other way around? It appears that the building (available) is holding up both.
I declare...I've nothing to declare.
Chillin' on Sunday afternoon. Penny for your thoughts, Oscarito.
