Examples of open groups are Village 101, Mountain Solitude, the McConnells' Bible Study, Mom's Group. Closed groups include Pilgrim Group (a men and Women's accountability and prayer group). These groups all started in January and will end in November. New ones will start up in January. You will have an opportunity to jump in at that time. December: fallow month. We don't want to have any meetings at all other than Sunday Vespers service. We choose to take December as a fallow month so that we can reflect on the birth of Christ and spend time with family and friends without being encumbered by lots of church activities. The concept of a fallow month is closely connected to the biblical idea of a Sabbath rest, but is literally connected to the farming concept of letting a field lay empty for a season so that it can be refreshed and become more fruitful. -Soup Supper: This is one of my favorite events at the Village. It has been happening since the beginning. It takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The entire Village gathers together and brings their best soup in hopes that they can overthrow Pastor Eric's Cheesy Tomato and Grilled Chicken Soup. Last year, several people claimed that their soups came close, but no one has officially declared it to be true. This event is a time where we reflect on the past year and share what we're thankful for. Pastor Eric
